The Reveal Imager

Our practice uses the Reveal Imager from Canfield Imaging Systems to provide you with easy to understand, printed report that we use to develop your personal skin care regime.

What makes the Reveal Imager so good for my skin analysis?

The computer-controlled Reveal Imager ensures our ability to reproduce your facial photography between specific time points with built-in positioning aids and standardized lighting. The Reveal Imager allows us to record both standard and cross polarized photography and measure surface and subsurface skin conditions. When needed, Reveal Imager even has a tool that lets us zoom in and magnify image areas for closer examination and review with each patient. Once done, the reports are customized for each patient in an easy-to-read format which includes recommendation for your skin care.

Reveal Imager's origin as research tool

Reveal Imager was originally developed as a research tool for skin care. Since then, the Reveal Imager has been enhanced for use worldwide in health and skin care by Canfield Imaging Systems, the world-wide leader in imaging products for healthcare and wellness.

After your skin examination and analyzing of your personalized Reveal consultation report, our skin care professionals will recommend the best skin care regimen and skin care products to address your specific skin care concerns.

How often do I need a Reveal Imager consultation?

Your first analysis report will become your baseline from which we can evaluate your progress. Depending on your skin condition and your goals, we will perform additional evaluations as needed throughout your treatment program.

How does Reveal Imager work?

The Reveal Imager scans your skin and captures key visual information, using multi-spectral imaging and analysis, of key areas that affect your skin's health and appearance. We use the Reveal Imager to evaluate your skin pigmentation, photo damage (typically from sun damage), texture, wrinkles, rosacea, spider veins and acne. We then prepare your personal skin care regime and rejuvenation program.

As your treatments progress, the Reveal Imager is used to track the changes in your skin and the effectiveness of your skin care program.

How long does the Reveal Imager take?

Your first Reveal Imager analysis will take just a few minutes. Once complete, the review of your results and consultation will typically take from thirty minutes to an hour focusing on your specific problem areas. Your analysis will also include your personal treatment recommendations. Follow-up Reveal Imager sessions will be a few minutes and the remaining time will be used for one of the recommended procedures.

Are there any other considerations?

The actual Reveal Imager imaging of your surface and subsurface skin features takes only a few minutes and is a comfortable process at all times.

Your results with the Reveal Imager helps provide an even more accurate diagnosis of your skin and documents its improvement over time.

Glycolic rich toner, that clarifies and deep cleans so the products can better absorb. 10% BP medication Gel and Therapeutic Clay Mask – your acne will have no chance to continue spreading.

Acne Back Facial

Acne Back Facials use the same method as our regular Acne Facial. Back acne can be more challenging to control than facial acne. The skin on your body is thicker and has larger pores than facial skin, making it easier for pores to become clogged. Plus, these areas are often clothed, which means your skin has constant contact with the oil it produces. You obviously can't stop your skin from secreting oil and clogging your pores, but you can help prevent body acne by cleansing your skin properly and getting regular back facials.

Unti-Hyperpigmentation Facial

Dermal Filler open

There are several dermal fillers on the market today and each has its own unique claim to fame. The perfect dermal filler would be one that is inexpensive, safe, painless, hypoallergenic, consistent, predictable, and long lasting. There are multiple options on the market to meet the growing demand for these products.

Hyaluronic acids:

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps the skin maintain elasticy and fullness. As we age, the skin loses hyaluronic acid and, subsequently, the skin loses volume and becomes more susceptible to the formation of wrinkles. The water loving molecules in hyaluronic acid molecules are capable of binding significant amounts of water as the molecules break down and this process allows for longer lasting results:

  • Restylane and Perlane are hyaluronic acids and the injection of these products is well tolerated. Restylane was approved by the FDA in 2003 for the treatment of nasolabial folds. Perlane gained FDA approval in 2007. Perlane is made of a gel larger particle and is intended to be injected deeper into the skin, thus, these products may have different indications.
  • Juvaderm is a smooth consistency gel composed of hyaluronic acid. Juvederm is approved by the FDA to last up to one year and it was the first FDA approved hyaluronic acid that has demonstrated effectiveness and safety in women and men of color.

Are hyaluronic acids safe?

These products have demonstrated an excellent safety profile in the properly chosen patient. Though they are considered very safe, there are some issues to consider.

  • Patients with severe allergies, especially those with multiple allergies, should avoid the use of these products.
  • Patients who use substances that prolong bleeding may experience bleeding and increased bleeding at the injection site.
  • Patients on immunosuppressive therapy should use these products cautiously as there may be an increased risk of infection.
  • Safety and effectiveness in pregnant patients has not been established.

Radiesse is an unique filler composed of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. After injection into the skin, the microspheres act as a filler and provide immediate increase in facial volume. Over time, the body will reabsorb the gel carrier while the tiny microspheres remain and the body is stimulated to produce new collagen. Therefore, the results are natural looking and long lasting.

Is Radiesse safe?

Radiesse has undergone years of clinical testing and has been proven to be safe and effective. It does not contain any animal or human-derived components and that means it has minimal risk of allergic reaction. The product is broken down over time into ions that are safely metabolized by the body.

Does injection of dermal fillers hurt?

Typically, the injections are well tolerated but there are some pain management techniques that can make the injections more tolerable.

How long after treatment will I notice results?

The results are immediate!

How long do the products last?

This depends on the filler used and on the age, skin type, lifestyle, and metabolic rate of the patient. It is important to discuss expectations with a doctor.

What areas can be treated with Dermal Fillers?

Different fillers are best used in different areas so the actual filler that is right for your needs should be reviewed with your doctor. In genera, fillers may be used to reduce wrinkles in the nasolabial fold, marionette lines, to fill cheeks, and plump lips. Some fillers may be used to correct scars left by acne or injury to the skin. Fillers are now gaining in popularity for non-surgical nasal correction.

These same fillers can be used to fill the back of the hands and reduced the signs of aging in this way as well.

Labial Reduction open

Labial reduction surgery, also known as labiaplasty and labial revision, is a surgical procedure in which the labia minora are reduced or re-shaped. Many women seek this procedure for many different reasons. Commonly, the patients complain of embarrassment and self-consciousness due to the size of their labia, especially during sexual intercourse. Other women complain of discomfort during physical activity such as biking and horseback riding or when wearing those ever popular tight pants.

The majority of enlarged labia are congenital but many occur following childbirth or due to other hormonal changes. These changes often rob women of their confidence and self-esteem and surgical correction may be the answer for them.

What is involved in Labial reduction?

This procedure can be performed in an outpatient setting and can often be accomplished with local anesthesia. In fact, the majority of our patients have the procedure done in the office under local anesthesia. The procedure is well tolerated by our clientele and they have achieved more than satisfactory results.

The patient is carefully marked with a surgical marking pen and asked to review the markings in a hand held mirror to be certain that she is happy with the amount and location of the tissue to be removed. She then receives injections of local anesthesia and the appropriate tissue is removed and absorbable sutures are placed at the surgical site.

Who is a candidate for labial reduction?

Any patient who is considered a favorable surgical candidate as determined by a thorough consultation and pre-operative evaluation that has enlarged or thickened labia minora, may be considered for treatment. We also consider it necessary to address the psychological component involved in these cases. We want to be confident that the patient will be happy with her decision in the future and that she is not getting pressure from outside sources such as boyfriends.

When can I return to full activity?

Every case is different; therefore, pre-op and post-op instructions may vary but, in general, patients can return to normal daily activity in a matter of days. We ask patients to avoid exercise, strenuous activity, and intercourse for at least 4 weeks but additional healing time may required in some patients.

Are there complications to labial reduction?

As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk for adverse outcomes. Most complications are minor but major complications may occur. The more common issues are bruising, redness, swelling, and pain. These tend to be temporary and generally resolve very quickly. Other complications include hematoma, incisional separation and infection. Full recovery can be expected with all of these issues.

More long-term consequences may be pain at the incision line, scarring, and skin edge irregularity but these tend to be uncommon.

Will labial reduction or revision affect my sexuality?

Possibly. It may improve when your sexual self-esteem has been restored. The labia tissue are not involved in the sexual response so the ability to achieve sexual satisfaction or orgasm should not be affected.

G-spot Injection open

The G spot is composed of erectile tissue that swells during sexual arousal much like the erectile tissue of the penis. It is responsible for providing women the ability to have orgasm with penetration rather than just by external stimulation.

Where is the G Spot?

The G spot is an area about 2 inches into the anterior (front) of the vagina. If you place 2 fingers just inside your vagina (palm up) and press your vaginal tissue toward your skin, and with the other hand, press down on the skin just above your pubic bone, you will likely find an area of increased sensitivity. This is the area where the G Spot can be found. It is often recessed behind the pubic bone making stimulation by the penis (at least while in missionary position) unlikely for most women.

What function does my G spot play in my sexuality?

The G spot allows a woman to have a more intense, satisfying orgasm. It is likely that increasing sexual pleasure may also improve a woman's desire for sex. However, it must be clear that many factors play a role in female libido and this procedure may not correct many of these issues.

How can I improve my ability to achieve orgasm?

Is seems likely that a more prominent G spot could allow for more direct stimulation leading to enhanced pleasure. This can be accomplished with dermal fillers in as many as 80-90 % of patients. The filler is injected directly into the vaginal tissues with a small needle with minimal discomfort. The procedure is performed in the office and can be done in 10 minutes or less. Products used by Aesthetic Specialists include restylane, Perlane, and Radiesse.

The Mystery of the G it real?

The G-spot is named after Ernst Gräfenberg, a German gynecologist who in 1950 proposed that a sensitive point on the vaginal wall could provoke particularly intense orgasms in some women, which differ from normal orgasms caused by clitoral stimulation. Finding the G spot has become a quest for some and a disappointment to many.

Its existence has been widely questioned by scientists and non-scientists alike. Many women have found it impossible to locate, leading them to doubt their own sexuality or to question the actual existence of this pleasure point.

Recently, Emmanuele Jannini, of the University of L’Aquila, claims to be the first to find anatomical evidence for the existence of that nebulous pleasure point called the G spot. Some women assert that stimulation of the G spot triggers more powerful orgasms which originate in the vagina. His research suggests that not all women have the G spot which would explain why some women can achieve these orgasms and, some, actually ejaculate.

Dr. Jannini has found ultrasonic differences between women who can have vaginal orgasms and those who cannot. He found that the tissue between the vagina and urethra was thicker in former group.

How long does the procedure take?

It is an office procedure and may take as little as 5 minutes.

How Long will the results last?

Depending on the product used, the injection may be effective from 2 months to 1.5 years.

How much does G spot injection cost?

This depends on how much product is needed to bring the g G spot into a more favorable position. It will generally require 1 vial but, on occasion, may require 2 vials.

Botox/Dysport open

As early as the 1950's researchers discovered that the injection of minute quantities of botulinum toxin type A into overactive muscles decreased muscle activity by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, thereby rendering the muscle unable to contract for a period of 4 to 6 months.

Alan Scott, a San Francisco ophthalmologist, first used tiny doses of the toxin therapeutically to treat 'crossed eyes' (strabismus) and 'uncontrollable blinking' (blepharospasm). Allergan, Inc., a pharmaceutical company that focused on prescription eye therapies and contact lens products, bought the rights to the drug in 1988 and received FDA approval in 1989. Allergan renamed the drug BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Botox showed its cosmetic potential almost immediately, when patients with their eye on ophthalmologic gains noticed their wrinkles softening. It became apparent that the toxin that could block nerve impulses to temporarily paralyze certain misfiring eye muscles could also be utilized to disable those muscles that form "crow's feet" around the eyes, wrinkle lines on the forehead and frown lines between the eyebrows. This serendipitous discovery was made by Vancouver-based cosmetic surgeons Drs. Alastair and Jean Carruthers when the husband-and-wife team observed the softening of patients' frown lines following treatment for eye muscle disorders, leading to clinical trials and subsequent FDA approval for cosmetic use in April 2002. As of 2006, BOTOX® Cosmetic injection is the most common cosmetic operation in the United States.

In May of 2009, the FDA approved the use of Dysport for moderate to severe forehead wrinkles or frown lines. It is only the second drug approved in the US for wrinkle treatment.

How does Botox/Dysport work?

Botulinum toxin A can be administered in a non-invasive way. Small amounts are injected directly into specific muscles and muscle groups. Botox/Dysport prevent nerve cells from signaling muscles to contract.

What are the medical applications of Botox/Dysport?

Medically, Botulinum toxin type A has been used to reduce abnormal head position and neck pain in patients with cervical dystonia (spasms of the neck muscles), in the treatment of strabismus (a condition in which the eyes do not point in the same direction), spasms of the eyelids or uncontrollable blinking (blepharospasm), and for the treatment of severe underarm sweating. It has also been used in the treatment of migraine headaches and other disorders as well.

What are the cosmetic applications of these products?

Botox or Dysport can iron out wrinkles earned over years of repetitive facial movements, such as smiling and frowning, concentrating and squinting. In addition to the most popular complaints - furrows between the eyebrows, crow's feet and forehead lines - women in particular get botox injections to correct some imperfections of their lips and necks. Recently, another use has been found: a "chemical brow lift" to restore the arch to falling eyebrows. (Outside the cosmetic sphere, botox is used not only for muscle control, but also to treat migraine headaches and other types of pain and to eliminate excessive sweating, or "hyperhydrosis.")

Is Botox/Dysport safe?

Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely in the cosmetic application of these drug. If you think you're having an allergic reaction or other unusual symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing, call your doctor immediately.

The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects. These products administered by qualified healthcare professionals and is available only by prescription."

It has been determined that when used properly and administered by a qualified injector, Botox cosmetic and Dysport cosmetic are generally safe.

Recently, a Boxed Warning has been added to the prescribing information to highlight that botulinum toxin may spread from the area of injection to produce symptoms consistent with botulism. It is important to note that no definitive serious adverse event reports of distant spread of toxin effect have been associated with dermatologic use of Botox/Botox Cosmetic at approved doses.

How long do the effects of Botox/Dysport last?

Although there is independent variation, the effects of Botox last from 3-4 months and effects are seen within hours to days of administration.

Laser Hair Removal open

One of the advantages of diode lasers, is that their wavelength can be tuned by altering certain parameters such as the current applied to the semiconductor.

Clinical data on the use of the diode laser for epilation suggest that the diode has specific advantages when treating specific hair colors and skin types. The older Diode machine works well for darker hair and lighter skin tone. The new Diode system can now be effectively used for all skin types. We use the machine with “in-motion” and HR technology.

*Also, we do not use topical numbing, as it is not required for our machine

Pixel Pro open

Pixel Pro improves the quality and texture of the dermis while it stimulates collagen regeneration. Skin resurfacing is a gradual process that happens over several treatments. Treatments are fast, thanks to the large spot size and high 2-Hz repetition rate. Because re-epithelialization occurs quite quickly in the treatment zone, the risk of infection is reduced significantly from previous conventional treatment methods. Recommended applications include:

  • Skin resurfacing
  • Laser peeling
  • Rhytids and fine lines

Laser Vein Treatment open

Treat leg veins with long-pulsed 1064-nm light. The Nd:YAG 1064 laser handpiece coagulates and destroys large, deep, yet cosmetically unacceptable blood vessels and leg veins without the use of chemicals or needles.

This easy-to-use, ergonomic handpiece effectively coagulates oxygenated reddish telangiectasias, as well as deoxygenated bluish venule ectasia and reticular veins up to 4 mm diameter.

Laser for Nail Fungus open

The lasers emit powerful bursts of light that transmit through the nail plate to the nail bed to be absorbed by the pigmented yeasts responsible for the infection. Non-specific heat conduction is then introduced by the Nd:YAG 1064 laser beam where the unwanted organism is thermally deactivated as the target area absorbs the beam of radiation and transfer the thermal energy to the unwanted organism. Against this kind of laser, nail fungus doesn't stand a chance.

ClearChoice offers more distinct advantages:

Fast and Easy Therapy – pre set protocols make this effective protocol a fast one, too. Most therapy sessions can be performed in a short office visit.

Non Toxic – The laser isn't going to hurt your patient or cause long-term side effects.

No systemic blood monitoring needed – Because the therapy is light-based and non toxic, you're not burdened by ongoing blood monitoring or other intensely monitored care.

Minimal Discomfort – We know that nothing's more important than your patient's comfort. If any treatment is intolerable, after all, patients won't come back. ClearChoice utilizes an In-Motion™ technique that gradually heats up the affected area. If a patient is uncomfortable the operator simply rests for second or two, then continues the therapy when the patient is ready. ClearChoice is a virtually painless alternative to painful nail fungus lasers.

IPL for Hyperpigmentation open

Treat superficial pigmented irregularities to improve a patient's skin color. Use a series of approximately five treatments using one of the AFT handpieces on HarmonyXL:

VP / VP cooled- vascular/pigmented lesions

AFT - How It Works

AFT is the next generation of intense pulsed light. It takes formerly unused short-wavelength light and converts it into part of the usable spectrum through a special filtering system. It increases emission and penetration, for safer and more effective treatments.

AFT also delivers Equally Distributed Fluence, which means that every pulse has uniform energy density across the entire output face. This fluence ensures repeatable results and remarkable safety. AFT yields a more efficient system for ideal clinical improvements, less discomfort and minimal skin damage.

The Vampire Facelift open

PRP Skin Regeneration Theory, a type of regenerative medicine with the patient's own blood, uses components called platelets in the blood to rejuvenate the skin. Based an an innate wound-healing ability, the therapy is performed by injecting components collected fomr the blood. Platelets contain substances called growth factors that activate and rejuvenate cells in the body. The growth factores, when released, induce the production of collagen and generation of new capillaries to rejuvenate the skin.

PRP for Skin and Hair Rejvenation

The treatment is ideal for individuals looking for gradual but noticable improvements in skin texture, tone and color with minimal downtime. This revolutionary, natural procedure offers incredible skin rejuvenation. Platelets in your blood contain numerous Platelet Derived Growth Factors(PDGF). These growth factors stimulate prolification of fibroblasts and keratinocytes which produce collagen and keratin. PDGF have a significant role in blood vessel formation, the cellular division of fibroblasts(the most common cells in connective tissue), and in synthesizing the extracellular matrix and collagen. Collagen production has been attributed to helping correct the visible effects of wrinkles.

This procedure is not a surgical face lift nor does it create the same effect as a face lift. The procedure helps restore or enhance areas which require volume. Improvement of skin texture and tone can be noticable within three weeks and improvement continues for the next 8 months as more collagen and keratin is laid under the skin. The results typically last 2 years or longer. Areas of treatment include cheeks and mid-face, wrinkling around the eyes, smile lines, nasolabial fold, neck, and jawline, chest, acne scarring and more.
